Almost comical - if Tesla is up front saying they may only sell for 420K cars in the quarter, they try to put a Mud Sling on it & say the haters are just doing it to end upupbeat. Damned if they do . . . . . . . . As for any manufacturer's sales lately? Yeah it's looking pretty paltry all around.
Wonder if it turns on who is giving the info. Social Security 2026 COLA estimated up 2.7%. What about Medicare? Maybe we can split the baby & call it a measly 2.75 % .
The article that you linked to was written in July 2025. The title says the estimated increase is 2.7%. The official increase that was released in early Dec 2025 was 2.8%.
A company in control of its financials would have removed the problem immediately, which is Elon Musk himself.
I continue to be amazed at how often you skip over the best sources and quote unreliable or outdated ones. Here is what the Social Security Administration says: https://www.ssa.gov/cola/ That said, the Medicare Part B premium increase is much larger, so the net increase most SSA beneficiaries will actually see deposited to their accounts, will be smaller.

i doubt sales or profits will affect the stock price much. it's more a tug of war between true believers and short sellers
Suppose anything will come of the investigation into the door handles outside and inside in a crash with the battery no longer functioning? Have you experimented to make sure you can get access to the inside mechanical release? Coached every passenger in the back seat how to access that emergency release?
Took a ride in a Tesla for the first time last week. My son is a Tesla engineer and finally broke down and bought a Plaid. Employees don't get a discount, but they get the self-drive software ($8000 value) free. Anyway, that car is dangerously fast. Geezus. Crazy that we let 1000hp vehicles on the road. He says the business is doing great and that future growth will come from robotaxis. As for stock price, I'm with Bisco. Nothing to do with profit/loss, and certainly not P/E. Just short sellers vs believers, and the believers keep winning. I don't play reindeer games. BTW, he gets free charging at work. His 80-mile daily roundtrip costs nothing. Sadly, he says he's gonna sell the Gen1 I got him.
The battery on the Gen one is so old, it's got to be the ICE doing most of the work - most of the time. At that age it wouldn't matter if he got a Tesla or a pickup, the cars are only meant to last so long. More often than not, 2 decades is too long.
IDK, the batteries on all my G1s are working fine. Just made a 600-mile roundtrip yesterday in one with no battery issues. and 40+mpg. From my experience, the longevity of cars has more to do with mileage than age. But yeah, man-made things certainly have limits to their duration, just like mountains erode and canyons form.
It is so hard to tell where the boundaries of Tesla overlap with other Elon holdings. I think people are betting on something outside the car making developing into a big thing.
... until they don't. Some will turn out as winners, but games like this can also leave a lot more losers than winners, and on both sides. Same here. I prefer sticking to the overall tide of the broad long-term market. Not a sure thing there either, but certainly a lower risk while still having more than enough gain potential.
Once I replaced the original G1 battery with a rebuild using G2 or later modules, all degradation ceased. The original had high internal resistance and weak "O" rings that allowed the small amount of hydrogen and oxygen to escape, drying out the module. The second design flaw, the internal gear ratios, moved the 70 mph "knee in the curve" to ~85 mph. That allowed it to cycle the engine above speeds of 65 mph. Regardless, it 'hit the wall' at 52-56 MPG in my 2010 and later 2017 Prius Prime. Sad because I suspect I could have tuned them to ~60-65 mph by correcting the few, latent defects. reduce empty weight efficient battery pack and body design lowered profile and induced drag After trading in my last Prius Prime, I get to do these things with my Model 3.
