The foam seems to rest on the trim lip, to give the assembly height. I am thinking the deck itself could rest directly on that lip. Sufficient support under the deck would have to be provided. Elimination of the foam could gain several valuable inches in height, I would think.

You lose or gain inches by switching between the high and low foam trays. I don't think you can gain as much as another inch by eliminating the low tray.

Just got the 2nd flat tire on our 2024 Prime XSE (18 mos, 18000 miles) , fortunately made it home before it went flat in the garage overnight. I have a spare from Modern Spare (I have posted all about that here) so I was able to change the tire without much difficulty and will run down to Discount Tire to get the tire patched. Luckily this time the screw is in the tread channel in a repairable area so we shouldn't have to buy another new tire. I know low profile tires are more prone to pothole damage but I wonder if they aren't more prone to punctures as well. I haven't had an issue with my Honda Ridgeline with normal profile Firestone tires.

The OEM LLR tires are much thinner and lighter than most conventional tires.
I've replaced all 4 at 30K miles, just before it hit the warning markers. There was a really good sale on tires in my size and I probably would've been able to get another year out of those old tires.
Took a 3 mpg hit by going with conventional tires, but no more flats. Actually pulled a screw out on my last rotation that didn't penetrate the new tires.
The Ridgeline tires are heavy duty small truck tires, that are normally thicker with more plys than a passenger car tire. So not really a valid comparison.
