Wow. Eidetic memory is an amazing thing. Cannot not even suggest all ways it might be useful for this gifted one.
they tried to push him toward a phd, but resisting so far. he's pretty happy where he's at. it is odd to have a child so completely different from you. i have to close my eyes and try to picture the mail man
sounds about right. i have seen a number of children that were really talented like their parents though sort of like mud bloods and squibs, eh?
The one risk of a perfect memory is when someone becomes slow to synthesize a solution to a novel problem. Of course a lossy memory can lead to having to repeat debugging and redescovery of a previous Eureka moment. Bob Wilson
saw this in the nyt. this fellow is a physicist and self taught musician. seems to be making science fun for a large number of people: Brian_Cox_(physicist)
I would agree. He certainly expounds the fun of Science and that area deserves more biopics. Title 'The Life of Brain' is taken though. == Interestingly, departed PriusChat member @hkmb and I did disagree about Brian Cox' overall approach. I found it a bit too dumbed down, and hkmb found it just right. The popularization of hard physics has several other prominent voices. Take yer choice...
Been a fan, and Bob's right! Science SHOULD be fun. Like baseball, and football....even college football ( ) money and outsized egos have about ruined it. $ports.... $cience.....
Conflating $ports with $cience has never taught me much. == "i never saw the money in science, is there a salary structure available somewhere?" There is, @bisco and if you actually want to know how much full-professors of Science are paid across US universities, internet will inform you. University sports coaches' salaries are not much less transparent, but some of those are flamboyantly higher. Across Universities, many more are paid to to teach 'how the world works' than to teach "beating opponents in physical conflict". Readers supposing humans are progressing will find that pleasant and unsurprising.
Salary (as in FULL salaries) are about as widely available as the Epstein files. PUBLIC universities have to show some parts of their books - but all of this "ASSumes" that SCIENCE happens behind the podium. That's where it STARTS, for damn sure - but that's not quite where all of the 'sciencing' happens.......
science happens in a lot of places, but suspect income is relatively mediocre for the amount of time and learning that leads to those positions. ceo's of scientific companues, sales people and the like will earn much more than the scientists, professors, and other professionals in science
