My co-worker got a non-hybrid 2024 earlier this year so I've been teaching him maintenance on it. (Break-in oil change and he's coming over this weekend for his 5,000 mile oil change with tire rotation.) I was surprised to see his steel wheels require 150 ft/lbs for torqueing! Looking over his truck, he really did get some good things at that price range. I'm concerned about so much plastic on various parts in his engine bay so we'll have to see if any becomes and issue for him. Toyota's, also, seem to have more and more plastic but are higher quality, I think, than what many other car makers are using....I even saw a VW car that had a plastic upper control arm....PLASTIC? (I guess Ram trucks are getting some, too.) Ridiculous
I've had my 2025 XL hybrid AWD w/4k tow package for a year now. Lifetime fuel economy (just over 10k miles) is 36.8 mpg, which I'm quite happy about because that includes driving highway speeds with kayaks on a rack, and I've towed a trailer with wood (about 3,000 lbs). I was quite impressed with the towing. It was around town up to 50 mph, and I got 25 mpg doing so ... that's better than our Sienna can get unladen .... oh, and talk about power difference compared to the Prius v I traded in (see below on 0-60), there's a particular hill I drive over a lot by me ... the Maverick w/3,000 lb trailer accelerated up that hill as well as the Prius v did unladen. The things I've enjoyed compared to the 2015 Prius v I traded in for it are the AWD, towing capacity, it's quieter (especially the engine), greater utility, and significantly faster (over 10 second 0-60 that required me to plan passing cars on 2 lane highways, versus 6.7 seconds) with only small penalty in fuel economy. I would say my biggest gripe is Ford's HVAC implementation ... the system runs on "auto" even "auto" is not selected. For example, I typically turn off the HVAC system when I get out of the car this time of year ... but almost every time when I turn it back on, the fan is on again ... Ford, guess what, I turned the fan off because I don't want 5F air blowing in my face! Please stop predicting what I want, that's what "auto" is for. The Prius v overall treated us well and was the right fit at the time I got it. I traded it in before some necessary repairs (passenger parking brake cable rusted solid) and maintenance (EGR valve cleaning time!), so overall it only cost me about $150 a month to operate (I'm skipping fuel costs & insurance, just cost of car, taxes, fees, and repairs minus what I got for trade in), and I'm happy with that. But now, the hybrid Maverick is the right fit for our family. I hope to have it another 7-8 years before thinking about moving on unless life circumstances change.
googles claim the bed length is 4½ feet. Would be a no sale for some due to that, & just adding another 1¾ feet . . . . would it of killed 'em to do that? it's max payload of 1,500lbs means if you had five 200lb peeps in it (not a stretch w/ todays modern tubby's) you'd have just 500lbs for junk in the back - &/or trailer weight. Well the mpg must be decent with what must be a very light chassis & set of brakes. fords ad shows it towing a moderately sized airstream - maybe a 22 foot Airstream Caravel FB? Those have a tongue weight of 525 Lbs IF TANKS ARE DRY. Better leave a couple folks home (& their personal belongings) as well as the dog.
