Taking into consideration that I’m 5’3” should there be strong resistance when opening and closing the hatch? It’s a noticeable PIA. My 2009 was easier. Someone told me their LE drops and closes at about 10”. That would be wonderful. It’s been a while since test drove a used one but I remember the hatch feeling so light. Thanks
I went out and measured: 14" for on my LE. The XLE is luxuriously powered? I saw a silver Prius in the parking lot in bright sun and I swear the hatch looked like it had indentations. I recall Honda/Acura putting out a notice a long while ago not to push too hard on the hatch because it would bend it. I thought it was funny at the time, but I wonder....
But, would the powered version be easier for a short person to reach? One could always put a pull strap on it though.
I suspect the gen5 has a heavier hatch as it seems longer than the gen3's. Should be able to set the open height of the powered one. Other cars also have an inside front button for it. People have jury rigged bungee cord to limit the open height of manual hatches. Such could help with closing.
Anecdotally speaking, my gen 5 (2024 XLE) hatch has more resistance and is harder to close then my gen 4 (2017 Four). Can't speak for how it compares to an LE.
I couldn’t afford the Limited model otherwise I would have much preferred the power lift. I could have my hands full and somehow manage to shut the hatch on my 2009 but not this one. Probably because it’s a longer hatch.
