Does anyone on here happen to know a bit about installing aftermarket stereos in vehicles? I was wanting to get one to upgrade my 2010 stereo since its fairly outdated and I thought a nice touchscreen with some knob control would be nice, but I have a couple issues about it. 1) Everything I find when I try to look up my different options they all look like cheap imitations that you would find for a few bucks on Teemu. They also tend to have a lot of mixed to bad reviews about only working for a short period of time before failing as well as being very slow to process your inputs. 2) I have a 2010 Prius that's equipped with steering wheel functionality, a factory back up camera, and a factory JBL system which, from my understanding, all make it that much more complicated to truly acquire an upgrade due to the increased levels of complexity when trying to recover the functionality of everything I have. Sure, there's options to rewire a whole new camera but isn't no one want to do work they don't have to do. Basically, what I'm getting at is there any good brands out there to look at for future reference if I do try and upgrade in the future or should I just honestly stick with my original parts and keep using Google maps on my phone?
I would hands down go with smarty-trend.com a couple members here have them and I looked into them and I will be purchasing a unit from them. I have the same system as you do and I will be installing it myself, I used to own a car audio shop so its not hard. They give you everything you need to install it and the unit is specialized for the prius, keeping core functions like steering wheel controls and oem backup camera. Many upgrade options and free gift choice. I will be placing my order maybe tomorrow Lol so just in time for you to get this unit.
Sounds like a commercial for smarty trend, a head unit manufacturer I have never heard of. Keep in mind for anyone else going for this, it's an android unit, so it won't support Apple car play. Also not much cheaper than many Sony headunits that support both Android and Apple.
Actually if you do your homework correctly, you will see that it does support apples. Not a sales pitch and I am not affiliated with smarty-trend.com just another forum member letting another member know that a couple other members here have bought a unit from this company and once I did my homework....I knew this is the best.
