    Hi all,

I have been dealing with a weird noise seems like brake creaking noise for a while now. Replaced the rotors and pads (Akebono) last week and the noise remains same. There is no sound in braking, but after releasing the brake and car starts moving, it makes this creaking noise which is kind of like metal creaking. I will try to record the sound.

Initial thought was suspension related, but once the car starts moving, there it no noise on pot holes / bumps etc. It is not rattling also. Confirmed that the brake shield is not touching the rotor.

While replacing, i cleaned it thoroughly. Cleaned the re-lubed the pins with silicone grease also. It was not stuck and was freely moving.

What can it be? is it a worn out caliper pin/Cylinder Slide Pin (47715-47010)? If so, both sides. Checked the calipers also. No rust and boots are fine.

The sound is very similar to this, but only on brake release and once car starts moving ->

I had that for a couple hundred thousand miles till I replaced the brakes... Lubing the calipers pins is what I believe the source of the noise is, but not certain. Did you lube yours?

Yes.. i did lubricate them with silicone brake lubricant. Used the "Permatex Silicone Ceramic Extreme Brake Parts Lubricant". Made sure that it slides in out fine also.

The pads i replaced which was the OEM, looks like what came with car, the outer was worn out more than inner, but had plenty of life left.

Does any of the pins have the black fitting on it? On my Avalon, one of them have it. Kind of like a thin plastic nut.

Found it.. what was causing sound -> https://youtube.com/shorts/mdDH50YsVEM?si=geXG_a2okoyU5kof

Both side control arm bushings.. :(

Since the bushings are n/a from Toyota, Control arm part numbers : 48068-47040 (right) and 48069-47040 (left). $134 each at local dealership.

Did any one tried aftermarket options? which one is good? Like ACDelco/Moog/MevoTech?

I never had something making noise like this. On my other cars, they were torn out / just weak (bmw z3/honda odyssey). Wonder how long i can drive with this.

Anyone tried poly bushings like -> 4x Toyota Prius (04-09) Front Lower Arm - Front & Rear Bushing Kit - Polyurethane Suspension Bushings ? On my other cars i used them. It sure made the ride stiff, but seems lasts for ever. Never even had to re-grease so far.

Replaced the bushings on the passenger side control arm.

Lowered the sub frame little bit to access the front bolt. For replacing the bushings, since i don't have access to a hydraulic press, here is what i did

    - Big bushing. Drilled multiple holes in the rubber part and made it weak, then twisted with the screw driver to take it out. Then made two cuts on metal ring that goes around it and hammered with a flat head screw driver to take it out. New bushing, used a 1/2" threaded rod and a 3" pipe to press it in. The rubber part still in great shape without any cracks, but was rubbing against each other in the area where is void, make that horrible sound. May be it is worn out in that area.

    - Small bushing - used threaded rod to remove it and press in the new one. Especially after the metal sleeve is inserted, the poly bushing want to come out. The threaded rod helped to keep it in place.

Drive feel remains the same. May change once i replace the driver side also. The ball joint was in excellent shape. No rips in boot and not loose.
