I have a 2007 gen 2 prius with about 125K miles on the vehicle and about 75-85K miles on the inverter pump that was changed out by Toyota under thier previous recall effort. The pump is working but I've noticed that the flow of coolant in the reservoir doesn't appear to be super smooth and when touching the pump I felt what I would describe as an inconsistent vibration. I checked the system to make sure that all of the air is purged so I don't think that's an issue. Is this normal or an early sign that the pump is getting close to it's end of life? How long have others gone between pump changes with Toyota/Aisin OEM pumps? Thank you.
Vibration from the pump is normal (spinning parts, after all), varying vibration, maybe not. Expect about 60k miles for an OEM inverter pump and a whole lot less for most aftermarket ones.
