I have been thinking about replacing my 12 V battery in my 2014 Prius-plugin and noticed water underneath it. About an inch deep or so. Quick fix: I do use my brain once in a while; I hunted around for a plug of some kind at the bottom with my hand, felt a rubber thing, and used a needle-nose pair of pliers to push it in from the outside. The water drained out. Mystery: I was very proud of myself till I realized that I had no Idea how the water got in. Any thoughts? Car: 2014 Prius Plugin. And yes, I love this forum. The battery replacement with an AGM seems like the right thing to do, especially given the tons of data and advice here. Always feel guilty that I take more than I give.
various points: under the black plastic strip in the rain gutters can have micro cracks. the hinge bolts on the hatch, bad hatch gasket or glass, even the tail lights can leak
Yes, there’re many places, but even worse on generation two versions. Do a YT search on the topic My tip is to use silicone on any rubber parts at the trunk area, and get a basic top coat lacquer and when dry, clean and paint any chassi seams. And, to validate you have caught any leaks, I also recommend reinstalling that plug. Otherwise it’s not as easy to prove you stopped the entrance of water.
