I recently bought a 2006 Prius with 240k mi soon the brakes went out completely and a local mechanic said it was the HV battery, but I think there may be more than just that going on here. The car studders at acceleration from stop and often has to be turned off and restarted to restore acceleration presumably because of an inverter problem or something.

    These were the codes:
    C1391 ABS $29
    C1310 ABS $29
    C1259 ABS $29
    C1256 ABS $29
    C1252 ABS $29
    C1241 ABS $29
    C0200 ABS $29
    B1650 SRS
    P3000 HPCM
    P0A10 HPCM
    P0A09 HPCM
    P0A08 HPCM, Mod $03
    P0037 ECM, MOD $00
    P3024 Mod $03

If anyone has experience with this combination, I'd be grateful for any idea where to start

could be a bad inverter (or wiring) and bad hv battery (p3024 points to a weak block)

I replaced the HV battery and will drive it this week so I can report which codes return. :) As an added bonus, I have no power brakes at all now. Happy Holidays!

So after replacing HV battery, brakes failed completely within 2 days. It may be the actuator, but I'm not sure because I have a breathalyzer on it and can't do any diagnostics until that is removed. This car was an expensive mistake.

My understanding is that I will need tech stream to bleed the actuator after I replace it, but how do I know which tech stream product I will need. I only have gen 2 priuses, but may buy newer ones once I can afford to in the future.... especially if I can get a plug in option for a reasonable price.

There is only one Techstream product. I suspect you mean the VCI cable, and that is really up to how much you want to pay. Most people opt for the cheapest X-Horse knock-off cable they can find, regardless of advice offered about better (more expensive) options.

If you care to be informed, you can use Google with the "site:https://priuschat.com" option pasted into the search bar, followed by your search string, to search this forum for info on VCI cables.
