Got a tough one... P0A2D

    I just can't figure this one out. I read that the Gen 2 brake fluid takes DOT 3 and others recommend DOT 4. I sucked out most of the green brake fluid out of the reservoir and put in DOT 4, pumped the brakes to flush out the old brake fluid in the lines and added more DOT 4 fluid. Everything ran great for about a week until we hat a lot of rain. After a few days, I fired up the Prius and drove it a few hundred feet and got the Red Triangle of Death and everything lit up on the dash. I went to get my ODB scanner from the trunk and found water on my spare rim but nothing in the wells on the left and the right by the battery. The only water was in the rim and spare tire area.

    I was able to fix some of the codes and re-wired the M10 connector (due to a bad wires) and the connector by the hybrid battery fan connector that looked a little corroded that were soldered and cleaned and fixed.
    The odd thing was that every Gen 2 Prius at the junkyard had that same connector by the hybrid battery cut off and there was about 6 cars that had those connectors cut out before I got there so it seems that there is a common problem with that connector and possibly water leaking down the B pillar hatch area and corroding the pins in the connector.

    I used to have a C1310 code along with the P0A2D and struggled with those for about a couple of weeks.

    I disconnected both the 12v battery and hybrid battery and let it sit for about 2 weeks. The C1310 disappeared but the P02AD is still there which states Drive motor "A" Temperature Circuit High.

    The car still starts and drives fine and the brakes works as they should but I do have the brake light ((!)) along with the Red Triangle light on. My hybrid battery seems fine and I never got the P0A80 code so I'm thinking my battery is still in decent shape. I tried to do the DR Prius app battery test but my battery is always not up to temperature as I am afraid to drive it or idle it to warm up and run the test again.

    Some say it's the ABS actuator throwing the codes but I hear it turn on and off as usual and others say there might be a problem with the hybrid battery ECU and it may have gotten wet.

    I'm at a loss and can't figure this one out. I ordered a hybrid ECU off of eBay and it's coming in the mail in a week or so. When that come in, I'll swap it out with mine and see what happens before trying to replace the ABS actuator.

    Any help or insight is much appreciated!

    Look at drive motor temp circuit . It's asking for you to do that . Nothing about HV here . ABS is 12 V. I've had this drive motor a code before I unplugged the wires from the sensor covers on transmission near wer you put trans fluid there's a few cover plates wen lifted these sensor wires n plugs revealed . I un plugged connectors . Cleaned w contact cleaner. Re assemble w some electrical grease sparingly . Put covers back on . You cannot get at to remove sensors. Not sure why covers are they're.

    What Tom said.

    Specifically about looking at the HV motor temperature sensor CIRCUIT. That's everything from the (A) hybrid control ecu, (B) the 2 wires & connections from the ecu to the transmission, and (C) the wires-sensor assembly in the trans on the motor.

    Of those 3 things, (ecu, external wiring, and internal trans), I would first check the wiring at the connector on the transmission for (rodent) damage.

    If that looks ok, then start testing the circuit instead of tossing parts.
