I am new user/ new owner of a Prius 2009
I bought a 2009 Prius with 248 000kms in it and after about 3 days there came a big triangle warning on dash with exclamation mark. I used a OBD2 scanner but no error codes.

Then I went onto check battery (12V)
without engine ON voltage was about 11.9 with engine ON it is 13.8 V
After about 5-6 hours I realised no Big triangle sign/ exclamation on dash

I went to an auto shop and check ed the 12V battery and the reading was 12.25V CCA measured 267 CCA (rating 370 CCA)
The battery is AGM 5511 battery and as per the previous owner of the car who had it for 10 years, battery was never changed. ( I doubt it)
Does this mean my 12V battery is bad? or brake actuator failure (as a friend of mine suggested)

I think more than likely that cheap think scanner just can't see all the computers in the car to get you your codes the red tri. Is telling you pike hayeee take a peek over herr at this orange light .... Your scanner may not know what that orange light is attached to so it thinks all systems go . Cars got too much going on for some tools

If the battery is ten years old, change it.
Then get an autel maxi 200 to read the codes

I took a quick look at thinkobd 100 and it's a BASIC OBD2 reader for ICE cars. NO access to ABS or Traction battery ECUs - It's only looking at the ICE ECU. So go find a better scanner that will scan ALL ECU's in that car. If it threw a red triangle, there's a error code stored someplace.

    Good Luck..

BTW; if you had an actuator issue, you'd also get traction control lamp. Get the 12V battery tested; 11.9V isn't low enough to trigger anything. That happens closer to 10.5V.

It means that you need a better scanner to read the trouble codes. If the warning lights are on, there are trouble codes that should be read.

I recommend the Autel AP200. It is a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle and you install the Autel app on your phone. You need internet connection to set it up.
