What is the purpose of the Battery Heater and Cooler settings? Advantages and disadvantages of having those set to On or Off?

    Thank you in advance,

The heater keeps the temperature of the battery from falling below about +5°C, to avoid it having restricted output when you start driving, so there's less chance of the car deciding to start the engine.

The cooler cools down a hot battery before charging, to reduce wear on the battery - better to charge when not excessively hot.

You might want to disable the options to avoid the extra power use - tell the car to only use power for actual charging.

Pros: Battery heater and cooler can both work while driving too, if the battery gets too cold or too warm, for whatever reason(s) !

Cons: Being able to find the settings in the menus can be tricky, since they are typically not used to often.

The settings don't affect driving - the heater's not used, air conditioning is controlled normally in G4, and cooling happens regardless in G5.

yeah, looks like the heater is off more than it's on, just spitballin above about what I think could be a battery saver feature or user select-able option !

Is anyone else monitoring the battery heater functions and termps?

I saw the heater temp up at 138 degrees ( Fahrenheit ) just after unpluging the car, while the dash charging LEDs and the charge plug light were both on and the pack had finished charging the day before. The battery temps where in the mid 50 degrees (F), while ambient temp outside was in the single digits (F),
I also notice that - battery temps don't raise very fast from the cabin heater when
    (they're, the battery temps )
in the mid 30's - even with the cabin heater temp set in the low 80's
    - while the engine is running warming up the coolant for the cabin heater,
    even after 20 miles ,
only a couple of degrees, if lucky !

Battery warmup will probably happen much quicker if running in EV at those temps, but a question to know more about is how much heat do you want the batteries to produce from discharging, or even charging, when they are cold soaked at 35 degrees or lower.

The heater will keep them above freezing ( IF ) the pack has been already chargerd, for 3 days, mine didn't turn on with the schedule set for charging twice a week and leaving it plugged in for several days. Anyone else noticing if the battery heater works for their car while that pack is dischared and waiting for the charge schedule to start charging and heating?

Than there is the pre conditioner - button on the key FOB - option, but that doesn't always work either, unless the pack is charged too.
Only if the algori thm considers the conditions favorable.
I've never had pre-conditioning fail to start with a fully charged pack.

The battery cooler probably has it's own unique behaviors, for those whom need pack cooling the most !
