I live in NY and have absolutely terrible roads. 4 flats in 2 years. After my last flat ($350/pop for Toyota OEM - thankfully road hazard covered two), I decided I would get new wheels and downgrade from the 19” wheels. Also I did a little research and figured I would also get a lift kit from priusoffroad.com.

    Wheels - 16” Konig Diverge Black - 16 x 7.5 40mm offset DG76514405

    Tires - Vredesten HiTrac 205/65R16

Prius 1.5” rear and front Lifts. I didn’t get the rear shocks since I don’t carry extra load - Priusoffroad.com

I went to a local tire shop and they agreed to also install the lifts and swap the tires (bought them from tire rack).

Thoughts: At first I couldn’t believe the difference. Road noise was nonexistent. Extremely comfortable. Potholes were really soft to go over - i barely felt it. The car almost felt “mushy”, for lack of a better term. I inflated all 4 tires to 36psi and imo it feels much more responsive with slightly more road noise. Potholes are still no problem. The lift kit is very subtle but it has been really noticeable when parking (lots of snow/snow banks on the street still).

    Total damage - $1700 tires + $350 lift kit + $600 install

Little pricey but whatever - I’m much more comfortable now and much more confident on the roads.

Mileage - probably 1mpg loss, at best. It is negligible

Sharp. Those tires almost look like snows!

I was thinking of going the 16" route for snows, but then some oem 17" wheels popped up on an eBay search and I couldn't resist. $500 plus $160 shipping. They are from a '26 and are in perfect shape.

Nice color on the car, btw. :)
