Instrument Panel shows "P" while driving. ?

    While driving my 2014 Prius with the car in “D” (of course) I noticed that the symbol for Parking “P” is indicated with a box around it. Don’t think this is normal – don’t remember this being shown before.
    Can anyone advise what this is, if this normal and further, if continuing to drive the car while this is shown will damage the car?

    That P always has a square around it. It's very confusing, I agree. But try switching between P and D while looking at those symbols and you will see the difference.

    Thank you both - just thought it might be an indicator of something wrong.
    Did not recognize it as what had always been.

    It appears that the lined square has always been there.

    The fully white square is in the D position.
