You even have and can't avoid these features on a new base model?

That's why I keep and older Toyota that don't have these features as long as possible.

    I buy GMCs.
As close to base model as I can get by with.
    No IMEI number.
    No CVT.
    No 'passive entry.'

To be fair to Toyota, their forward facing cameras are not the only ones that require a recalibration after a windshield replacement, but their cars in particular ARE more susceptible to getting windshield dings in the first place because of their low roof-line.
Also - most vehicles manufactured these days have some form of direct fuel injection and electric power steering.

Blame the Climate Industrial Complex and CAFE, NOT Toyota.

ALSO...Toyota's electronics use edible wiring insulation which can cause electrical issues for non-cat owners or people who have to park outside.
    HOWEVER (comma!!!)
    THIS isn't a Toyota-only problem EITHER....

I'm no fan of Toyota's corporate culture, and their US dealership network is quite horrible....but many of their car problems are NOT limited to the folks in Aichi.

One of the annoying traits of AI is the propensity for passing on absurdities without the vocal cues that the "speaker" is being sarcastic or looney. They just make for bad information sources.

The video says that the failure of electrically assisted power steering leaves the wheel feeling as if it is attached to nothing. No one with even modest mechanical knowledge would think a physical rack that is electrically assisted feels detached when the assist fails. Those of us old enough to have used hand me down cars as kids that included power steering have has the experience of hydraulic power assist failing. Far from making the wheel feel attached to nothing, it makes the wheel feel attached to a vastly heavier vehicle.

My guess is that the AI conflated electrically assisted and drive by wire.
