Where can I get Push pins for the various plastic panels. Need to replace a number so would like to avoid the high cost of the dealer. Thanks
^^Patrick has the exact replacements listed in that thread, great resource. But I've found that in a pinch there is a good array of them at Lowe's that fit. I replaced two in the plastic panel over the radiator this way. Just have to take some of your old ones and rummage through their slide out parts bins for a close match.
Lots of old PC links are dead. I take the URL and put google in front of it and it should search a working link. Plastic Push Fasteners | PriusChat
Not surprising, it's been 15 years, and the site's had a fair number of upheavals. To track down the part no's for fasteners and similar, I usually start with Amayama. You want to have your car's "frame number" and/or VIN at the ready; both can be found on the driver's door frame decal. Toyota USA's official part site used to be decent, but "something bad happened", 5~6 years ago. If you come armed with part no's it works fine though, and will provide you with links to local-to-you dealerships, and their "street prices". Being in Canada I'll usually purchase by through Amayama, never any problems, and even with shipping their prices often surprisingly undercut North American options. If purchasing multiple items, and they're available from more than one country (typically UAE or Japan) it's often advantageous to choose a slightly higher price option form same country, to avoid two shipping charges. To date the only costs I've incurred through them are item cost plus shipping, no extra taxes or duty. That may have changed, considering the current US situation.
Find the part number at Amayama.com and then search for it. You can buy packs of assortments of these on ebay or a box of one type at clipsandfasteners.com. (The quality is most likely higher on the parts from the latter than the former, and they will usually cost more.) Amazon has them too, but they are always my last resort. I like the Dorman 961-075D for holding on the tray over the radiator. The trick is to not push the button all the way down. Do that and the head will pop off when one tries to remove it (once it has aged in the car a while). Leave the head up in the air on about 1/4" of shaft and then it can easily be removed with a flat blade screwdriver and reused. The bottom part of the retainer is firmly held in place like that.
