Like the title says, the MPG won’t get above 40MPG after doing the swap from 17120-37050 to 17120-37054. I have heard tale of a secret, ancient software spell that may need to be uttered after doing this swap. What say all you Prius warlocks (and possibly witches)? 2010 Prius III 235,000 miles TechStream Enabled
I have to think something wasn’t done correctly, but that’s all I can offer. Are you measuring mpgs by calculating at the pump?
Everything was done to spec, and tested. I genuinely think I remember a software update coming along with this manifold swap. The last thing I wanna do is go back to the original manifold, with all of it’s weird EGR flow issues.
I surely will. I am not one to gatekeep knowledge in any realm, but certainly not this one. I think I’m going to have to bite the bullet, and go into my local Toyota dealership’s parts department, and ask about a software update for this specific swap. I’m almost certain that one exists. I will keep the post updated.
Apologies. I am calculating MPG by dividing the number of miles driven by the number of gallons of fuel added during each fill up— although my MPG reading on the display is also within +/- 1.3 MPG of my calculations, and always has been. Only once was it greater than that!
Calculations will very because each pump handle is different. And you may not fill exactly the same each time. If you're within 2-3 miles each time, you're fine.
Let us know what the dealership says about updating the software and if that fixes your gas mileage problem. I highly doubt it though.
