Hey guys, I have a 2011 Prius and my yellow triangle is illuminated along with my check engine light and my traction control light. The check hybrid system warning is on as well. When I pulled the codes, I got a p0a80, p3011, p3013,and p 3014. Also, the arrows showing energy transfer from the wheels to the battery to the engine on the energy monitoring display have stopped moving. I do have diminished fuel mileage other than that, my car seems to be running OK.

Previously, my hybrid battery had died because the car sat for two years. I purchased a grid charger and charged the battery and the car has been running great for eight months now. I checked the 12 V battery and that is still in good shape. I also disconnected the 12 V battery for 30 minutes to reset the hybrid system. When I did that, the arrow started moving on the energy monitoring display again briefly. Then all the warning lights came back on and the arrow stopped moving. I plugged the hybrid battery back into the grid charger and charged it for about 15 hours. All of the bad battery cell codes went away, but the p0a80 code remained.

Is it time to change the hybrid battery? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks for your time

P0A80 expresses the car's firmware's best judgment that the time for a new traction battery has come.

Without some very good reason for doubting the firmware's best judgment, that's pretty much the story.

Is the remaining P0A80 code an active/current code, or is it a permanent/historical code?

I have a new hybrid battery on the way. The other thing I’ve noticed is that the inverter coolant pump doesn’t seem to be working. There is no turbulence in the reservoir tank. I’m not receiving a code for a malfunctioning pump. There is no red triangle, Just the yellow triangle. I have a new inverter pump on the way also. This will be my first time replacing an inverter pump, is there anything I need to know, anything I should have looked out for before assuming the pump is bad? There are no blown fuses. Thanks for all the help

The gen 3 triangle is yellow. It was red in gen 1 and 2. We sometimes call it the red triangle by habit.

The gen 3 inverter cooling pump is variable speed and only runs as much as needed. In gen 1 and 2 it has just one speed and ran whenever the car was IG ON, so it was simpler to check.

This is good info. Thank you. I will give it time to see if it kicks on.
