Anyone on here had any experience with Cloyes? Called Toyota just the chain is over 300 and the whole Cloyes kit(with tensioner and sprockets) is around 200. I have read mixed reviews. I haven't cracked the engine open yet but feel pretty sure based on the codes it threw. Also I'm on a timeline and would like to have the parts in hand and Toyota told me that the chain is non-returnable if it turns out to be something else. At 230k miles, I'm tempted to go with the Cloyes even with the mixed reviews. Thoughts?

While back in the day most all vehicles weak link was the timing chain, I've never heard of that on here? You sure it's not ignition coils or plugs or vacuum hose or head gasket? Those are way more common.

    What are your symptoms?

That company used to be a very good company . You must be getting the timing chain and cam gear are not aligning I can't remember the code usualky changing oil staves off code for about 4.5K miles . I've my work car doing this now . It is timing chain stretch. This engines at 530K I can about guarantee it.

P016 code. felt the misfires. Plugs and coils changed 20k ago when I did the head job.
Changed cam shaft position sensor, crankshaft position sensor and VVT valve.
After it felt a little better but still felt like I was running down a gear. No engine reving just felt slow. MPG was down to 35 and then today sounded like it threw it. Good bit of clanking.
