It seems there have been some relevant updates last year, rolled out to basically all Toyotas with similar infotainment - new ones should have it out of the box. Some changes: Car Play doesn't cover the normal Toyota menu anymore (and has optional fullscreen mode) Can silence "youre too fast beeps" via touchscreen Some even more ugly 3d visualization of energy flow Did you get anything? In my case i didnt get a singular update OTA but my dealer said there is something (after I asked them) but then they failed to apply it during service as it takes up to 5 hours. I will go back. Just as heads up to anyone that never had an update - it might be possible and apparently Toyota still sucks with OTA. Not surprising. They cant even keep the server stable when its cold in the morning and many people suddenly want to remote heat via app. EDIT: Im not talking about the maps!
Im not sure why they persist in providing that; it’s hands-down the most distracting/pointless gimmick, and of course the default display, at least on our gen 3.
I've got an update with the new energy flow etc, but that came when I had my head unit replaced after a map update failure. Do you think the update has really been done OTA for anyone? The speed beep touchscreen indication is there for me on that new head unit, but it only indicates state and doesn't work as a button - I was assuming that was due to lack of some update to the main dash.
I read that some people in Germany got an update OTA but given service said its 5 hours I cant imagine how that would work. (CHR got this update OTA last year too). As for the speed limit button, I tested that in a newer corolla and chr ( you click on it and it turns the sound off) and the newer Prius 5 have it too. Would be a bummer if the update is only as you say it. After all it needs to connect from infotainment to the main dash yeah.
Yours seems a little bit newer anyway but mine never had an update. In any case, OTA doesn't seem to work for some for whatever reasons. Unfortunately I have to wait one more month for my next appointment.
The whole "OTA Upgradability" of Toyota could be considered just a false advertising. There is just nothing and that position in the Menu to check for updates can be a fake button as well. My 2025 from April prodiction already has the "mute RSA by touching the speaker icon" and ugly Power Flow chart. The only update I could do are the maps, via manual download and putting on the USB drive. There is so much more that 12 inch display just screams to do with it, instead of plain white spaces for 1/2 of the screen. Simple more advanced statistics in the power flow screen, like how much energy you recovered during the trip and regenerative braking. Engine temperature indicator, to know when you can turn the heater on to save the heat generated from the battery. Or just "split your mid to 3 sections you want to see, (like map, power flow, Tyre pressure, as example) The 7 inch head up screen also is painfully simplified and with tons of wasted, blank space. I know that not everyone need gimmicks and fancy graphics, but some basic customisation is a standard nowadays. Just like new CH-R where it's 12 inch Digital Cockpit have full customisation available. The Prius and Bz4X looks totally barebone compared to others. Beside that, the car itself is great at its efficiency and refinement. Just that software side looks way behind compared to the others, like Ford, Kia, or even Stellantis. Do not mentioning Tesla.
