I got it at 160k miles, changing oil every 5k miles since then. Usually when maintenance required screen comes on and after oil change i go into settings and reset the message. I recently did the oil change at 180k miles and reset the message but at 182k it came back on again and this time it says maintenance required "visit your dealer". When i go into settings it does not allow me to reset it. My guess is that its coming on perhaps due to major maintenance interval. The car runs excellent, smooth, no issues at all. At this mileage should I be looking at any of the following e.g. - Transmission eCVT fluid drain and refill - engine coolant - inverter coolant - spark plugs ?? Also, how can i disable the maintenance message?
As far as I know, you should be able to simply reset the maintenance minder. Is your CEL on? Your self diagnostic routine may have tripped something. If you have a code read; you should probably plug it in and check the error logs. FWIW; both coolants@100K and spark plugs@120K; should've been changed a while back, per OEM manual. ATF is optional, but I do it every 100K miles; ditto with brake fluid system flush. https://assets.sia.toyota.com/publications/en/omms-s/T-MMS-20PriusPrime/pdf/T-MMS-20PriusPrime.pdf Hope this helps.....
Try resetting it again. I've attached the maintenance schedule link for your car above. Try refreshing the page, if you don't see it.
As far as I know, the US spec Prius maintenance alert is just a dumb miles counter, comes on every 5k~ miles. For what it’s worth, Canadian spec Prius don’t have it, life goes on. Here’s a spreadsheet extrapolation I did, the Toyota USA schedule, to 240k miles or 24 years.
That warning may NOT be emissions or safety related codes that won't trip the CEL; but logged into the diagnostic buffer. That may be what the car is trying to tell you. I'd take it down to an auto parts store that'll do a free scan, to make sure. If there is a code there - don't erase it; jot it down and do some research. I know some water pump malfunction codes won't trip the CEL, but is logged. There's a chance, on high mile cars, that the electronic engine water pump gets intermittent. This could be the first signs. Good Luck.
