2018 C, 276,000 miles, I knew it was gonna happen soon. I can’t believe there’s hardly any used batteries out there on marketplace like I used to get for my old 2012. I bought a scanner and paid $15 on the Dr. Prius app in hopes of identifying how many modules are bad and hopes of fixing it myself, but if that ends up being a joke, I did find a 2016 hybrid battery that came out of a C that only had 60,000 miles on it, for $400. Initially, I wanted to drive four hours to Seattle to get it, but man, I know the miles were low, but that’s still a 10-year-old battery. My first hybrid battery in my 2012 C went out after seven years at 200,000 miles, and now this one went out at eight years. what do you guys think in regards to used batteries, specifically that $400 one ^ I use this car for work, and money is tight so for now I just cleared the hybrid system code a few days ago and continuing to drive while figuring this all out. Thanks
It sounds like you already know what's up. A new one from Toyota will be a great fix and is likely to kick the can another 8 years down the road. A used battery is a risk- might maybe get 3 years out of it, might only get a few months- very hard to say. I don't think mileage tells very much of the story, it's mostly the calendar that counts. If you haven't already found it, car-part.com is a database of auto recyclers. Might find more hybrid packs better/younger/closer etc.
For anybody that is interested, the OP created a thread one week ago about the symptoms of his hybrid battery before the trouble code P0A80 occurred. See this link, https://priuschat.com/index.php?posts/3601424 Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
