I have recently bought a 2009 prius with 170k miles. I did regular engine maintenance but regarding the hybrid battery it is still the original one. I did Dr.Pirus test and it says the battery is at 48% capacity. I have attached the techstream data of hv battery. And the delta voltage between the modules is staying under mostly 0.2-0.35v, internal resistance is 0.0019 for all of them.
And the battery is dropping very slowly under load from 77-65 but fastly from 65-50.
Is the battery in condition for a diy reconditioning or should i go for a new one? And does anyone know if i can rent/borrow grid charger/discharging kit in florida? And help is appreciated.

That doesn't look terrible, especially the internal resistance numbers. But what was the car doing at the time? Get the same measurement with the pack under some load, like driving at a steady rate on the highway. For safety, have one person drive and another handle the computer.

Personally I wouldn't do anything until the car starts giving weak pack symptoms. For instance, dropping through SOC down to 2 or 1 bars rapidly when driving slowly with the A/C on.

IMHO; I'd just drive it until it throws a traction battery code. The fact is that it's a gen3 with know motor issues. I would get a HUD to actively monitor ECT, so you can side step a head gasket or intermittent water pump issue that wouldn't present itself until the temp. lamp comes on.
If your going to keep the car for a long while; I'd replace it with a new one; but to be fair; I wouldn't buy a high mileage gen3 either.

    Good Luck

FYI, the internal resistance (IR) of the battery blocks defaults to 19 milli-ohms any time the 12v battery is disconnected. It takes some time for the car to learn the actual IR after the 12v battery is reconnected.

2009 is a gen2. First year for gen3 is 2010, at least in the US.
