Drove my Prius 6 years and just got a fix ticket for no lights on rear plate. Actually didn't have any bulbs in both sockets!-) Bought 194 type, all references said it's the right type for 2008 Prius and got this, some older socket? Can see that it won't fit. Just checked in AUtozone could not find any that likely will fit.
That's obviously NOT a socket for a 194 bulb. Could you be missing a pigtail connector that contains the socket? Has any body shop ever worked on that car; perhaps didn't fix it correctly? Does that car have a "branded" title and someone just slapped it together? My old neighbor didn't have a problem with the two "branded" Prius his daughters was driving - until he had an issue with one of them. I had to point out the electrical tape covering the CEL on the dash board to him. Also had to tell one of his daughters that her registration has been expired for nearly 18 months.
Thanks BioMed ! Might be some modifications but I don't have history, I will double check if this is a whole piece or just part of socket.
That's a plug you want to lift hatch remove black panel. Sit on bumper pull hatch to knees look at plate lights from rear. The sockets that hold bulbs twist on the usually grey. The burnt out bulb will be black looking .
because the license plate uses a 168..........but I don't know if it would fit that plug. It looks a bit ??
I believe the 168 n 194 bulbs are interchangeable; same socket. I believe the 168 is brighter, consumes more watts.
