I've a 2018 Prius C Two. It receives scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles on the button...but not at a Toyota dealership. More often than not, other shops don't reset the maintenance reminder. And more to the point: I know when my maintenance is due - I can read an odometer, dammit - and don't want the reminder.

Is there any way to permanently disable the blasted maintenance reminder system?

Unfortunately, no. I do a quick reset when it comes up, and enjoy the next 5,000 miles

My understanding it's obscuring other, semi-important displays, until you reset it? So ignoring it is not an option? So thoughtful...

FWIW, we don't get that "feature" on Canadian spec Toyotas, at least that was the case with 3rd gen Prius.

You should just do a reset in their parking lot, before leaving that shop.

I forgot the sequence for my 2012 Prius C; but it does a count-down - so you KNOW your resetting it. Whenever you do the reset, the 5K mile count-down restarts then; so doing it in the parking lot would be ideal. You can also ask that shop to reset it, after they perform the service. You won't know if that shop lied to you for a few weeks or months; depending on how many miles you put on the car, every month.

    Hope this helps.....
