Razz me all you want folks. In the end, though, I need to know the answer. I have to plug in my car outside. It gets rained on. The entire cord is dry except where it plugs into the car. Are there short and long term consequences to this. If it matters, I've been doing this for 4 years and haven't had an issue, but that doesn't mean those consequences don't exist. TIA.

from experience, you can charge in the rain, sleet, snow, cold, heat, you name it. it's never been an issue, and I did it for 11 years

You just need to keep that safety cut-off brick dry and out of the water puddle. That will shut EVERYTHING down, if it senses an issue. Inspect the handle, pins and cable every once in an while. Repair or replace; when necessary.

I've read that some company has made a rain/snow sock for the plug-in area; that shields it. Perhaps you can find it on an internet search. It's been 5 years on mine; but I'm partially covered by my houses' roof line.
