    Usually we see corn, cotton, alfalfa, and soybeans this time of year. But now I’m seeing yellow canola fields. Another success of tariffs.

    Affordable farm labor scarce, diesel high, and a different crop … I don’t envy North Alabama farmers this year.

    Ah yes rape seed oil. Gee I wonder why they don't call it rapeseed oil instead of canola

    unprocessed rapeseed oil from traditional high-erucic varieties can be harmful — often contains over 40% erucic acid, which in animal studies cause fat buildup in the heart muscle. Yeah that's what I want. So mankind does what mankind does best . Monkey with genetics - they bred low-erucic strains for food use, now under 0.5% in most commercial rapeseed oil.
    That's partly why all the health food nuts have switched to more organic types of oil.
