Hi! Thanks in advance. I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on what’s just started happening on my 2011 Prius (125,000miles). 600 miles ago, I replaced the right real hub assembly, the left rear caliper and replace rotors and brakes. I could only quickly get parts from O’Reilly, so that’s what I did. I did not unplug the 12v battery when I replaced those parts, I didn’t realize that was a step. Also the brake reservoir was topped off with DOT 3 brake fluid and the brakes were bled.

After driving the car for a bit, an array of dash lights came on (brake, abs, traction control, brake system warning). The brakes felt difficult or squishy but still had braking power. After driving it like that for a couple miles, they turned off, brakes went back to normal. I parked again, googled horrifying things like brake actuator costs, and drove again. I got a brake actuator friction noise once that didn’t repeat, but on again came the light and the squishy brakes.

So, if anyone knows what my problem might be and can save me some seriously panicked googling, please let me know. Would a wheel speed sensor be causing my issues, could it have something to do with the non-Toyota hub? Would something from the replacement that I did trigger an issue with the actuator? Do I just need to unplug the battery and reconnect the sensors? Many questions… FullSizeRender.jpeg IMG_4169.jpeg IMG_4170.jpeg

    There'll be codes.

Just to clarify, you've replaced right/rear hub, left/rear caliper, and both sides, rear rotors and and pads?

Hi! Thanks! Yes that is correct. I’ll have to get a better code reader, because mine didn’t find any. I’m debating what level of reader to get. I think I can handle changing the brake fluid, but I don’t feel confident to do the actuator. I’m sincerely hoping it’s not that. I’ll update with codes.
