I was wondering if it would be worth resurfacing these rotors or replacing them? The brakes are in great shape and they only have 70,000 miles on them. This happened after the car sat in the rain, which caused surface rust on the rotors. After I drove the car these grooves developed. I am pretty sure the rotors aren’t near the minimum thickness. Just wondering if it is worth resurfacing these rotors. The problem is the pads are good so should I use the same pads and resurface or replace the pads and resurface? Thanks for any advice.
How do you know the brakes are in great shape? if this is caused by the rain, you can try pressing the brake with a little force while in NEUTRAL. On a non busy street, go about 40 mph and then put the car in neutral and brake. This will allow the brake pads to clean off the rotor, without using the electronic braking.
Do you have braking issues or just too much time on your hands. Cars has been sitting out in the rain since they've been invented. It's your time and money; do whatever you want.
