I just did a rear wheel bearing on my 2017 Prius. To get the bearing off I bought a 8 1/2 in 3in bolt and nut and 2 washers one being grade 8, and 2 5/8 nuts as spacers. Put it thru one of the holes and tighten it down on the top brake tab. Tell the bearing moved and the bolt got as tight as I can. Hit the bearing with a hammer a few times around it. And it just popped off. The fastest bearing I have ever done. I live in the midwest.
I'm looking to replace my rears now, actually got parts in the cart on another tab. But what size is the wheel nut? 29 - 35 mm sockets are available. I THINK 30 is correct but not certain. In fact, it's why I'm here today.
What, you mean the socket size for the nuts holding the wheel on by the hub studs? 21 mm on my gen 3 (and my former gen 1, and on gen 2s I've worked on). 29, 30, or 35 would be yuuuge for wheel nuts. Or do you have an AWD model where you're thinking about an axle nut on the rear?
