I am replacing the refrigerant on 2013 Prius V USA. Sticker says to use HCF134a (r134a) and ND11 lubricant. It gives a gram weight for the refrigerant but not for the lubricant on the sticker under the hood. I purchase the special non dialectic (ND) lubricant for hybrid A/C systems with electric compressor. I just need to know how much of it to use, preferably a volume measurement. Supposedly it is in the service manual. Anybody know? Quizzing AI gave me 50-90mL but it was very UNSURE. Thanks
There's always as much art as science to that, because the oil tends to be distributed throughout the system. How much new oil you put in depends on how much you think was in the pieces you replaced, or how much you think you lost with a leak. Don't look at me. If you get a reply from @lech auto air conditionin then do what he says.
I miss that dude... He hasn't logged in for 2 years. So much knowledge about AC. I think what happened is his auto AC shop in San Francisco got way too expensive to keep going and he turned into a commercial HVAC business for buildings and no longer works on vehicles.
Huh. Two years next month. I guess I hadn't been noticing as many of his posts for a while, come to think of it. Too bad.
