Hello guys, i have always wondered this but never seen anyone mention this before. How come the 2010 Prius and 2011 and above (i assume) both have slightly different instrumental cluster designs? I have a 2010 and it looks basic, where as the newer 3rd gen years have slightly different things like more depth wise colors almost looking 3D like, smoother animations especially in the energy flow chart, and better designs and illustrations. I have attached the hybrid system indicator photo in a 2010 and 2015 prius. Notice the green in the bar is slightly different, along with two small notches in the battery indicator not present in the 2010. I wanted to know why honestly toyota changed it in 2011 models, if anyone else even noticed this, and is it possible to bring this to the 2010 prius? Even features like turning the car off and it displaying fuel cost and trip info is not available in the 2010, yet i’ve seen other 3rd gen’s have it.

The gen 3 refresh was between model-year 2011 and 2012, which I assume is when that change was made, along with all the other changes that happened then.

Every manufacturer makes changes and updates, that they don't mention, from year to year.
Not sure if they are interchangable though.

Yeah, It would be cool if I could flash the firmware on those newer Priuses on my 2010. It seems the screen is obviously capable, unless they also changed the screen to be higher refresh rate or something.

Hoo boy, a lot. The wheel colors, taillights, front bumper design and lighting locations, leather substitute for the seats, HD Radio receivers, a whole different selection of nav and non-nav, MFD or non-touchscreen headunits, different arrangement of buttons on the steering wheel and HVAC controls ... I'm sure I'm leaving a lot out.
