    Hi all,

I pulled the auto light sensor out, and its connected by a wire, even though theres no auto light function. Part number 3A dummy is connected. Is there a way to activate auto light function without changing the stalk?

Also I saw that in mexico with their base models, same headlights as LE, they have auto light function, and during daytime they turn on the led strip not the main light as here in the US.

You call that an auto light sensor but that's not what it is in the LE trim.

Toyota calls it a "Solar Sensor (cooler thermistor)" and they describe it as a photo diode and amplifier circuits. What does it do? Well Toyota says it's part of four sensors (room, ambient, evaporator temperature sensors being the others) that it uses to calculate the target speed of the air conditioner compressor.

And while the "Solar Sensor" likely looks the same in models/trims that have Automatic Light Control (i.e. a stalk with the Auto option) that "Solar Sensor" in the upper dash serves multiple purposes which Toyota details as:

    (1) The solar sensor (automatic light control sensor) consists of a photo diode, 2 amplifier circuits for the solar sensor (automatic light control sensor) and a frequency converter circuit for the light control sensor.

    (2) The solar sensor (automatic light control sensor) detects (in the form of changes in the current that flows through the built-in photo diode) the changes in the amount of sunlight from its left hand and right hand sides (2 directions) and outputs these sunlight strength signals to the air conditioning amplifier assembly.
So just another hurdle to overcome I'm afraid if the idea of giving yourself Automatic Light Control in an LE is the goal.
