19 cents or even 39 cents isn’t much when gas is around $5+

And if you need to pull a 5th wheel trailer you just laugh at the prius.
If we were messaging without being nasty of course we'd each say that there's every kind of vehicle for every kind of task.

Perhaps what might be equally important is being resilient. For many that's having a little more than this week's fuel or Groceries on hand.
So with that in mind, besides 100s of pounds of propane, we store our diesel, which, last time we filled up at Costco was maybe 3 months ago.
That included all of our Jerry cans. Since we have more campgrounds that we could ever attend w/in 50mi, we will use no more than 5 gallons each way for the Duramax.

    ;)

People really need to be more prepared in case of the inevitable. Look at the careless politicians running California with empty water reserves nearest to known risky fire areas. You play stupid games, & ya win stupid prizes. Similarly, the last Federal Administration depleted the National Emergency fuel reserves - because (among this & other policies) why? Better for subsequent administrations to fix things? isn't that why we have a nearly 40 trillion national debt? No side wants to be the bad guy? Great game of musical chairs, right?

if one were to retaliate with something equally insinuating ignorance, one might say, "... should we take financial advice from someone living in a high crime city like paramount? Living in the equally horrible next door city of Bellflower was motive to get the heck out of the entire county in our early 20s - even before it got so bad.
Put another way, if we keep our words soft & sweet they're much easier to chew & swaller.

As for the YouTube video, "Owe nothing" people will always owe something whether it's food for your stomach - or a mortgage - or yer rent that pays for the owner's mortgage, or income taxes - or property taxes - car insurance etc.

Not really trying to be nasty, just don't complain about fuel prices if your daily driver is an F-250. I own an F-250, it gets used about 20 times a year.

They intentionally emptied 2 reservoirs that directly supplied the hydrants, they mothballed fire trucks, put fire fighters on minimum hours, and drastically reduced the fire dept's budget.. A lot of the fires were intentionally started. All for their globalist 15 minute cities plan. I think only about 16 homes have been rebuilt. Not sure why the Trump justice dept hasn't gone after them, maybe the same reason they haven't gone after any of Epstein's clients.

LA and Cali in general is a major cesspit of corruption. This is Spencer Pratt on Joe Rogan, a candidate for LA mayor going into detail especially about the fires.

This country died in 1913 when the Rothschild's world bank created the Fed. The Federal Reserve is not federal, not a reserve, and it's never been audited. It's a consortium of privately owned world banks beholden to no one and directly against the constitution that says the nation's money is to be controlled by congress. All our taxes do is pay the interest, the debt is never paid down, it just keeps increasing. Just the interest for 2026 is projected to be over $1 Trillion dollars.

""Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws!"" Mayer Amschel Rothschild

Biden emptied the SPR in order to temporarily bring down gas prices before the elections, Trump is doing something similar now.

Just hate to brag. Just fact.

I've used pay as you go, since I was a child.

I retired in 2020 with no debt except a small mortgage which was paid off in 2005.

It can be done. My FICO is 843. I have credit cards that pay me a bonus every month. I pay no interest on credit cards or any loans

I am not rich by any standard. I am in the low income tax bracket.

But I am debt free and own my own time. That's real freedom.

Congratulations. We retired around the same time. The Apostle Paul one time commented on learning how important it is to be content with - in so many words - nothing or a lot.

47 fails, he is not content, ever. It has to be always more. It’s a deep message. I use it to correct myself.

Always makes people smile when they hear so many thoughts ....... regardless of the topics - indicating Trump is in their kitchen 24/7.

In which way were the politicians careless? Did they not pray enough for rain? Should they have passed laws restricting where people can live? (Something that I favor, because building houses in dry forests is nuts, but the conservative, or at least libertarian, position is typically "let people do anything they want". The problem is in part taking care of itself because the insurance companies are making it extremely expensive to live in those locations.)

I am aware of instances where reservoirs have been drained for maintenance and it would not surprise me if in some of those cases there was a fire nearby. You are no doubt referring to the Santa Ynez reservoir which was out of service at the time of the Palisades fire. Because its cover had torn and water contamination was going to be a problem unless it was fixed. There were however three 1 million gallon tanks of water available for fighting fires. Are we to fault the "politicians" for not foreseeing a fire so epic that 3 million gallons wasn't enough to put it out? Maybe, but I bet certain people would have been complaining about the unneeded expense of another million gallon tank or two! (The reservoir is 117 million gallons when full - which it often is not.)

When L.A. fires broke out, the 117-million gallon Santa Ynez Reservoir near Pacific Palisades was empty. Here's what we know. - CBS News

The only truly egregious waste of water by a politician that I can recall is this one:

2.2 billion gallons of water flowed out of California reservoirs because of Trump’s order to open dams | CNN

At least some of this was salvaged by using it for previously unscheduled irrigation and by adding it to percolation ponds to recharge the aquifer. Trump thought he was sending it to LA because, who the heck knows for sure, maybe because water flows downhill and LA is lower than those dams? (Never mind the mountains and distance.)

The conventional wisdom avers that gasoline can't be stored for more than a year without degradation.

    This ìs not completely true.

I have experimented with long term gas storage for over 25 years.

The first was with Scepter made military fuel cans. It worked, but. The fuel degraded after five years even with Stabil when using non-ethanol gas.
The VOC had permeated through even the thick walls of the polyethylene container. I did use the gas successfully by mixing it with fresh gas in at least a 5-1 ratio.

Starting in 2010, I started using the meral German made Vapro cans sold as the Midwest brand at Harbor Freight.

    The experiment was completely successfully.

In 2022 and lately during Hurricane Heline, the gas was good as new and was used without issue in my generator and my Prius v.

So, I have cans stored in a shed 30 feet away from my house that I know that I can depend on in an emergency.

Vapro is an original manufacturer of the WWII Jerry can.

Posted an image of the time-stamp receipt, it would have some credibility. Trolling by another name is lying.
