Gen 2 Fuel Calculator

Hey Everyone!

I wanted to share this with everyone in the hopes it helps you as much as it's helped me. I'm the very proud owner of a 2005 Toyota Prius. Love my car, love the milage I get out of it, it may not be pretty but it's functional and it's the reason why unlike drivers of gas guzzlers I'm not stressing over the fuel prices of today.


Having said that, I HATE the fact that I have to keep guessing as to how much fuel is left in the tank, how much I can drive etc. It's a crapshoot and a guessing game. I've been doing some research by using myself as a guinea pig and I've designed a tool that anyone can use that helps with that.


You simply go and fill up, I usually go to full all the time. You tell it how much you drove, your fuel consumption could be L/100KM for metric or MPG for imperial and it helps you try and figure out how much fuel your tank can actually hold. As you enter more and more entries you can use the fuel check tool so that any point you can enter your fuel consumption and distance driven so it can give you an idea of the distance-to-empty. This is an ongoing project and your feedback is greatly appreciated. This tool is completely free, I'm not affiliated with Toyota and any donations are appreciated but not expected. Again, the goal was to solve a problem I know I and many others have. I wouldn't say it's 100% accurate but it's pretty darn close. The other day I told it I had drive 390KM, that my fuel consumption was at 4.4L/100KM it came back and told me that to fill up my tank I should put in 16L of fuel, turns out it was 16.4L but close enough.
