Trading a 'gasser' for a BEV isn't 'trading' as the word is commonly understood by normies.
It's more like taking a further loss on a vehicle that you're probably already underwater on.

You're at risk of paying thousands more for a car that you will save hundreds on in operating costs.
    Pass.
I did the math on that once before.

Glad I topped off my oil change supplies before the story broke.
Our local Wally's motor oil shelves are starting to look like the water aisle the day before a hurricane.....
+1. I try to buy the 12q cardboard size since my truck has a 6.2q sump but I usually have to buy 2-5q jugs and recycle.....or reuse.
The only oil available in winebox containers is a non-synthetic.

I "was" doing a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) workflow, took a 10 litre gas can the near-to-me dealership; their service department would fill and I'd pay at the counter. I had a similar 5 liter container that I topped with a large funnel, which I caught drained oil with. I would walk that bottle down to a local quick-lube place that took waste oil, pour it out in their tank.

This made for NO oil-contam'd bottles.

Unfortunately, the dealership kept upping the price for their bulk oil, finally refused to sell me oil. So back to buying oil in bottles (currently Costco's 2-pack of 5 quart Kirkland brand), then putting waste oil in the empties,, dropping off at aforementioned quick-lube place.

    But it irks.

Any oil retained in any engine beyond 5k miles will result in sludge development.

The only way to remove debris is to change the oil.

The oil might last, but debris will last to to clog passages and coat moving parts.

The extended life oils start with a higher load of the additives that keep the particles in suspension and forming sludge.

Still, abrasive material in suspension wears almost all moving engine components.

Waterjets with abrasive inn suspension can cut through even some of the hardest materials.

Here's a video of the empty oil shelves at one Walmart.

We are not going to run out of oil in any of our lifetimes. Ya'll really need to find something else to get all spun up about.
