This trip report is to give new Tesla owners a clue and go over lessons learned: 50 mph - block-to-block speed priorities - biology and charging craps minutia The trip summary over and back: The improved trip and energy display: Delete unused trip reports and create a new, named one for a specific trip 492.4 mi / (9 + (24/60)) = 52.383 mi/hr average speed including charging with biology breaks ~5 hrs over and 5 hrs back Huntsville-Tunica Charging towards Tunica Leave with 85-95% - home charging is cheapest but leave headroom for regenerative braking to reach main highway Early biology and charging in first hour - gets everyone happy and car well boosted to reach midway, Corinth MS. Set destination as mini market, not SuperCharger to mange battery preconditioning About 20 minutes away, add SuperCharger destination (inserted at front) so preconditioning meets thermal requirements. Brief charging close to Tunica to arrive with 30 miles reserve range at overnight casino (i.e., Fitzgeralds) Charging towards home Maximum charge at 'free' L2 chargers (i.e., GoldStrike) typically 2-3 hours Comfort biology break and charging at Corinth using managed preconditioning trick Arrive home with 10-15 miles remaining range Priorities should be biology first so the driver and passengers feel comfortable and don't have to change clothes along the way. When approaching a charger, stop at a truck stop or 24 hr restaurant with bathrooms first. Takeout snack is optional. Leave home with large, sealable plastic bag with mixed peanuts and cashew nuts (and/or others.) Include a smaller sandwich bag with dark chocolate bits. Carry sugar free, electrolyte drink bottles, some water only bottles, and canned brewed coffee. Use the mini market for bathrooms, cooked hot dogs, or sausages. Put car on charger and walk about and stretch. Eat sack snack and optional, recline seat and a 30 minute cat nap. Make sure to have at least 30-40 miles reserve charge to reach next charger. Use Full Self Driving (or whatever it is called) with dark sunglasses with one piece lense. This desensitizes the cabin nag camera, not eliminate, but allows eyes to rest more than exposed. At night or low light, mind the nag. Craps is one of the fairest games at a casino, a regular table with 4-6 and 8-10 numbers. I don't trust "crapless" tables with 2-12 numbers as they lack a "DONT" play. My style: If I am shooter - bet on the "DONT PASS" line and say, "Shooting from the dark side." When point is established: Make a COME bet Lay $30 ODDs on the "DONT PASS" bet When COME bet goes on a number, put $30 ODDs. A$30 odds pays off on whole dollars so everyone gets a fair play and easy to check the crew skill. Be sure to call out your bets and ODDs as they sometimes make innocent mistakes. If I am not the shooter - wait until they set the POINT and then use "DONT COME" like the "DONT PASS" line. This ensures no one thinks you are betting against the shooter ... good karma. Once you have both a DONT and PASS/COME bets with $30 ODDs, the outcomes are: COME bet hits - take your profits and place another COME bet while leaving the DONT bet and odds alone DONT bet hits - take the loss as the COME bet is still there: let it play until the 7-OUT and start with a clean table alternate - a second COME bet and then $30 ODDS and wait for the 7-OUT Understand the house always has an advantage but your goal is to stretch out the play as long as possible. If you get ahead by 2x bets and ODDS, color up and take a biology break. Pocket your profits but keep your original kitty money, $500, in another pocket. After a reasonable pause or casino switch, go back to a craps table and play with the kitty. Leave the profit pocket alone. Player cards are how you get free stuff from casinos: Fitzgeralds - best comps including free rooms and 'snacks'. Always ask for table chips when available or if given slot credits, play until the points are ~1/2 of the original play points and cash out. They have one, half-sized, regular craps with exceptionally skilled table crew and players. A friendly, easy table, but beverage waitresses are sparse. Goldstrike - has the free, L2 chargers but may be occupied. At table breaks, check to see if one has become available. Does offer table-play, $20 ticket, on a 50/50 bet (i.e., PASS/DONT PASS). However, regular craps is later in the evening. Good beverage service. Horseshoe - stingy comps and for-fee charging. However, starts the regular craps earlier in the day. Walkable next door to Goldstrike. Start with Fitzgeralds for room and trip break. A shower, nap, and fresh change of clothes means the games will be more fun. If the table is not open, ask when and then head to Goldstrike for charging. If regular craps is not open, ask when and walk next door to Horseshoe. There are "popcorn" craps if you have to wait. So how did I do? Started with $800 and returned with $400. Session were two losses (my bad play) and one win. Remember, it is called "gambling" not "winning." Bob Wilson ps. Special dress is optional so I wore my “I ❤ Canada” t-shirt. The bank teller asked were I was from, “Oklahoma” and he thought my accent was more northern. I explained I had a speech impediment and my therapist solved that but killed my Oklahoma accent. ‘I just enunciate everything when I talk. But it comes back if I’m very drunk.’ At the craps tables, the crews noticed and made Canadian friendly banter. One asked where I was from, “Oklahoma, but I wear this shirt in Canada so my food won’t taste like spit.” We had a good laugh. In Dixie, you are from where you were born and grew up.
