    Hi everyone,
I drive a Gen 3 Toyota Prius and I'm having an issue with the hybrid system monitor display (MFD) on the dashboard/combination meter.
The rest of the car runs perfectly, and my fuel trims and hybrid battery stats are healthy. I am a heavy DIYer and comfortable with soldering and electronics boards if needed.
My question is: Is this a known issue caused by a specific small component (like a blown capacitor, a loose resistor, or a cold solder joint on the board) that I can replace/fix myself? Or do I need to replace the entire hybrid display controller / combination meter unit?
If anyone has encountered this specific display failure and managed to fix it at the component level, I would highly appreciate your guidance, part numbers, or links to any relevant forum threads.
Thanks in advance for the help!

I think that bitmappy portion of the meter display is formally known as the Multi-Information Display (MID), a little different name from the MFD (multi-function display) that gen 1 and gen 2 all had. Gen 3 kind of made the MFD optional: in cars with the touchscreen infotainment unit, it's that, and in cars with the plain radio, it's not a thing.

Also, I don't think you really buy the "combination meter", it's more a la carte. The MID seems to be part of "No. 3 Meter Circuit Plate".

On the other hand, judging from how often it gets mentioned in the repair manual, I think the No. 3 Circuit Plate is probably where most of the combination meter logic lives. In particular, I suspect it's the part that remembers your odometer mileage, which may add a bit of complexity to replacing it.
