The equivalent of $7.60US per US gal over here in Oz at the moment, $2.80lts AUD, it has been over $3 ltr. The Gen2 Prius gets used very little now since we bought an MG4 EV and charge for free from solar.
Not looking forward to the petrol costs when we finally get the Winnie back on the road to start travelling again. the V10 6.8 ltr drinks a ltr ever 2 kms, and things are a long way apart over here.

That church is Episcopal, isn't it? Also not his brand. Gemini tells me they also favor the NRSV.

Church of England, it tells me, still may use the KJV "for traditional Choral Evensong and specific historic services", while generally having the NRSV (Anglicised Edition) at the lecterns, and perhaps even more commonly the NIV Anglicised Edition in the pews.

that's awesome. I wish the Teslas were more affordable. So does the car eventually compete with the Prius when you compare initial purchase cost and the better energy savings?

I know my Prius main battery replacement ($1500 15 yrs) paid for itself

Was the $9K battery covered under warranty?

The MG4 51kwh LFP battery version is claimed to get 405kms range (250 miles) but we live by the Murray River, so a lot of hills between us and Adelaide and 320kms return, but we arrive home with around 20% charge remaining, so we could get 385kms (240 miles) and that is mostly at 110km/h (70mph). We bought it new for $30,000AUD ($21,500USD) drive away, 12 mths rego and all other govt charges paid.

Pity the Cheeseburger in Chef won't allow them into your part of the world, even if it is smaller than Australia

Cheeseburger will expire naturally, and this one is under an employee contract if he doesn’t. Burger needs to be told once a week he is a temporary employee and everything he is using now doesn’t belong to him.

Yes, my mistake. Must have mentally crossed that with some Methodist news of a similar time.

(I became a non-believer long ago. But late in life, dad became a Methodist certified lay minister, so by osmosis I was refreshed on a number of recent church issues.)

Not sure why older Source material is necessarily less reliable. The Dead Sea Scrolls (3rd century before Christ & newer) are the oldest substantial Hebrew/Aramaic biblical manuscripts we have discovered. They are found to be 95% or higher in accuracy for key texts like Isaiah, with most differences being minor (spelling, scribal slips) that don't change meaning.

The Dead Sea Scrolls Shed Light on the Accuracy of our Bible - Probe Ministries

As a note of irony, places in Isaiah such as chapter 9 & chapter 11 - referencing the inevitable savior to come, so much so that skeptics often theorized Isaiah must have been written no more than 2,000 years ago. Until the Scrolls were discovered in the 1940s

Don’t forget this about gas prices was caused by your man alone. What he should have done, still could, is tell Iran we are on again for the first agreement under Obama, he is sorry for his mistakes, he will do better now, and no brute force. Appoint Obama to negotiate if he would, keep Jared home. Iran would respond much differently. School kids not killed by America, many things. Not showing the world we can run out of ammo pretty quickly. But that is only a dream that he could turn rational and America first.

Indigenous to now America and Australia and everywhere else,
were living in these places untold thousands of years, about 15,000 for the Americas. I had to explain that to become a believer.

The king only hires incompetant sycophants who are less intelligent than he is.

He only wants to hear news that makes him look good and agrees with him.

No facts that are negative. His famous line then is, "You're fired."

Politicians are just a facade. The real people behind this are the weapons manufactures (who love running out of weapons) and the world banks that Iran will not submit to. Trump can't be described as an intellectual, he's being manipulated.

Obama is a commie, he wants to weaken destroy and control you from within. He's the bankers boy. Economic disparity and white collar protection from the law skyrocketed under him.

It's refreshing to finally have a country that is fighting back effectively against them. Think about it, this is the first time the pee doughs safe haven, and their protector's bases, have been effectively bombed.

Mankind has fought wars for millennias, it keeps the gene pool strong, it's a tradeoff. "did you exchange a walk on part in the war, for a lead roll in a cage?" Makes you wonder how advanced civilizations have got past this hurdle.

And soon we may be facing a war between man and machine.

The two main reasons are that words are forgotten and words change meaning. Another common reason is that the societal context in a work was written can be lost even though the work itself survives. Finally there is a tendency for modern people to interpret older works within modern contexts even when the older context is known, forcing an interpretation the author(s) never intended.

There is an excellent YT channel "Tasting History with Max Miller" which often illustrates all of these with nothing more than old recipes. One recipe may say "add blabbersnouts", where we now either have no idea at all what a "blabbersnout" is, or can at best infer it from some modern equivalent, as in some people in the area now eat a sausage they call a "blibbersnit", so maybe that is what a "blabbersnout" was - 1500 years ago. As for context, many of the older recipes list ingredients but not quantities or cooking methods. Miller is constantly reminding the viewers in this case that he is making an educated guess, but it is a guess largely colored by how we like to eat food now. If some ancient recipe said "mix blueberries and flour", but was actually 90% blueberry and 10% flour, he might very well swap those ratios to make something resembling a blueberry pancake we would eat with a fork, rather than the original gummy pasty blueberry mash they actually ate with their fingers.

At least food recipes are not very controversial. Religious writings, on the other hand, are absolutely the worst in this regard, as everybody has their axe to grind in interpreting old texts to either conform with one set of beliefs, or to be disregarded when they contradict them.

Surely even you can see the contradiction in that juxtaposition.
