The thing we’ve been dreading seems to be happening and at the worst time too . I scanned using Bluedriver and got the below report. At 138k miles in Houston, this seems about expected by the sounds of it but what’s the best approach going forward? Is there someone in town you can recommend for an affordable repair to refurbish the existing pack or swap? Trying to find the best option. I am relatively handy and can likely remove it but it’s really hot out so would only be wanting to if it’s really worth it and a substantial savings. Also worried about other things failing as we haven’t done the water pump or other issues yet. Does the car makes sense to work on?

    Appreciate any advice.

Thank you. I was really hoping there might be some other options people mentioned since this was the only one we had found and is still quite a lot even for reconditioned. Are there any other suggestions?

You can find lower cost shops that will "fix" yours with a tail light warranty or maybe a few months. Just have to call around.

Dorman sells a used reconditioned battery out of autosupplies but you get a better deal at Hometown Hybrids. Those guys will come to you and install while you wait. They can also help you diagnose the battery and other issues before you sink battery money if you take it to them.

Depends if the want to flip the car or want something reliable from a hybrid battery standpoint.

Personally I used them years ago for a new oem with install. Money well spent.

Thank you. We want to keep the care going for some time as my wife really likes it though it’s still an expensive fix and I’m concerned something else big will die like the head gasket due to egr gunk. Another thing we wanted to do is have the water pump replaced. Another option we found was Priustec who has good reviews too in town that does $1400 for a new LITHIUM battery with 1yr warranty or a reconditioned one for a NiMH for $1250. Not sure whether that is any better of an option. Also comes on site to replace like hometown hybrids. Willing to install new OEM water pump for $250 labor (already have part). Any opinions? Thanks so much for your advice.

    This one: https://greentecauto.com/hybrid-battery/toyota/prius-hybrid-batteries/prius-v/toyota-prius-v-2010-2018-hybrid-battery-new-cells/

Looks like there is a Houston location: https://greentecauto.com/locations/houston/

They can do a mobile installation, too.

Avoid Dorman! I had one premature failure and another that lasted only 40K miles on my '02 Classic. I currently have the greentec with new cells installed: https://greentecauto.com/hybrid-battery/toyota/prius-hybrid-batteries/toyota-prius-2001-2003/toyota-prius-gen-1-new-cell/
