Has anyone recently replaced their traction battery with an OEM unit from Toyota or one from one of the third-party vendors? If so, how did the process go for you, what was the cost and what improvement to your fuel mileage did you see?

I am having issues with mine, recently had the P0A80 code come on, in my 2011 Prius with 148K. I have already done the head gasket replacement, replaced the egr/egr cooler with clean units (not new replacements). I know that I could go through the hassle of tearing it down, replacing modules and such, but I have to be honest, I don’t have the time nor the desire to rebuild the battery pack, given all the other work I have done.

Also I am hesitant of buying a “reconditioned’ one from someone off Facebook , I want to replace it with one that will give me the best chance of getting another 150k out of it, not to mention getting more than 40 miles to the gallon (42 is the best I have attained in the 18 months I have owned this car).

You want the Sodium Ion pack. Less than half the weight of the OEM.
Easy to replace. You can run longer in the EV mode, not effected by the cold or heat.
Very steady charge discharge cycles, and it will hold the charge longer.

Safer than lithium, water won't cause it to catch on fire.

MPG should improve, of course depending on your driving habits.

Jack is very supportive and was quick to respond if you need help.
