I've been looking at the info here, and vacillating for months, but I think I'm going to go with a Modernspare for my 2024 Prime.

95% of the time it'll stay in the basement; I do longish (150-200 mile) drives a half dozen times each year and thought I'd bring the spare then--mainly because having to wait for roadside assistance when on a trip would be an ordeal.

As an added complication, I'm usually bringing my elderly mother on such trips, and carry a wheelchair in the back. From what I've seen it's much easier to store a spare in the well area for a non-plugin. What is the best way (safest, and allowing me to carry the wheelchair and luggage) to carry a compact spare for a weekend trip? I appreciate that a full-size tire is better, but space is an issue.

I have a full-size spare behind the front passenger seat. It fits fine and the seat can go all the way back. The rear seatbacks can still fold down. There's still plenty of storage space. This is on an LE with standard size tires.

Velvet is correct...a full size spare (which is what I, also, have) will fit behind the passenger seat. I bought a vinyl cover to go over mine so I don't get any rubber to rub off on the material. But I do keep mine in the back...I have the AWD so there's no spot even for the donut spare.
Another option would be to put a car top carrier up on the roof...not sure if you've considered that.

Skip the carrier? And be sure to park in front of dealership occasionally.

When it started getting warm here, the spare got stinky. I got some tire bags from the tire place. Put a black Carhartt jacket over it for stealth, and for winter.

That's a good idea....my vinyl cover goes all they way to the back so it covers all the rubber....don't have any smells (yet)
