No effect as I noticed he had gotten distracted:

DOGE and Trump certainly made Musk a target for some.

    For example:

This report has a lot of flaws mixed with a few correct observations.

Just think what these posts would have been like if he hadn't gone crazy ..... or showed his true colours, I guess we will never know

    Crazy and true colors?

Like being responsible for the best EVs available to the general public, making internet available to most of the world and becoming the first trillionaire and richest man on earth?

Yep...wish I had some of his problems...and smarts too.

FTR...I still don't knowingly own or use any of his products/services.

I know this is going to a tough call for the Elon fan club, but if you can watch to the end of this video and then point out where he is wrong, I'd love to hear your thoughts .... For those that didn't understand just what they were buying and bought into the hype .... ummm..... best use what ever cash you have to buy a good motorhome with a shower and toilet and plenty of house battery capacity and solar .... that way you will at least have a roof over your head ......

Let's just say you are limiting the general public to the US buyer, but it is the name most associated with EV fires and EV deaths, so maybe that is a US bench mark ..... but please, try looking outside the US borders before making sweeping statements that include the rest of the world, but do it sitting down, the shock might weaken your knees .....

I've already made my observations as related. As for investments...I don't need or want any advice from anyone here in a car forum. This old Mechanic already worked his azz off for our f-ck you money and will be retiring in 6-8 months...very comfortably I might add.

...and as I stated before, "FTR...I still don't knowingly own or use any of his products/services."

Are yes, the amazing money they pay the man who fixes their car, yet a fitter with a 1/4 of the skill gets more than double the pay, upskill as a hydraulic fitter or heavy industrial fitter or plant mechanic, in other words using a fraction of the skills you used as a motor mechanic back in the days when you actually fixed things, and they pay you crazy money ...... but I still miss a few things from back then .... being poor isn't one of them ......

So had you held the Tesla stock, would you be able to pay the electric bills you would have had and come out ahead?

I never understood Tesla stock valuations and agree there is psychic value not owning a stock with that ridiculous a PE, disassociating yourself from a man with those views and owning your own power source. Now drill your own well and power the pump with your free electricity. And with a septic system you can be largely free from utility bills and their increases.

Of course there are interconnect fees and potential increased registration costs and taxes on that EV, Liable to go up given the politics in the state.

Living in NC we are experiencing an extraordinary drought with water restrictions going mandatory tomorrow. Never though I'd welcome a hurricane or at least a healthy tropical storm. Navy shower time.

Tesla has been a public company for 16 years now, and they haven't exactly been flying under the radar.
OF COURSE they don't operate on their own capital!!
NOTHING that size does - otherwise we would go back to the lovely care-free lifestyle everyone enjoyed in the 1820's....

In the US roughly 2/3 of people live in homes, and my finely honed Spidey senses inform me that quite a few of them were bought with other people's money.
It sort of works that way with cars too, since most people so not buy their cars (new or used) with Benjies.

DJT doesn't live rent-free in my head, so I really do not care HOW much money he has.
The dude is 80-years old and if you believe my intellectual "betters" he's not in the best of health.
I would say that that's a separate topic for a separate thread in a separate forum - but I s'pose it's NOT really the case.... eh? ;)

MY views about Musk haven't really changed all that much in the last 16 years.
I'm glad he's on the planet.
I'm glad he's not my neighbor or a relative.
I could care less about how rich or poor he is - but I would have to work at it reeeeeally hard.
    OTOH?
I hope he generates ANOTHER trillion bucks in 'personal worth' because as little as I understand economics I DO know that it's not based on a finite number of ducats that he has stashed away in some old government auctioned Cold War missile complex.
Wealth CAN be GENERATED if one is an innovator.

IMO, the best example of someone not knowing how economies work is the use of the phrase REdistribution of wealth.

I used to think submarine showers were rough until I joined the NCW community - where I remembered them quite fondly. ;)
