Hello I will keep the short,
16 Prius C Car was hit in the front. Front only changed the Bumper extremely minor accident. I receive the car yesterday drove it today. Drives amazing out of nowhere on high speed 70+ , I get a message on the screen that says Check hybrid system overheating. I probably drove about 3 to 400 feet to find a spot to park on the side and as soon as I was slowing down, it felt like the car was shutting off Engine was shaking and the shake was weird like the engine is punching inside. It literally felt like the pistons are going to fly off. I wait there for my friend to tow the car and tried starting the car a couple times it did went in gear and moves as well, but the engine was shaking really bad. brought the car to my office 3-4 hours late start the car my friend cleared all the codes and everything seems to be normal. Engine is a smooth like a better that knocking noise from the engine is gone. in between the time the only thing I did is clean the filter under the seat on driver side, which was very dirty. now this is not a Prius Mechanic, but has a nice little system and check all the codes. Nothing is showing. I’m scared of driving the car. Anything I should look for any tips and tricks, be drove the car around the block and it is as smooth as it can get, but I just know it there is something wrong. I have had many in past six years and the inverter sound on this one is slightly different what should I check? Thank you for your help in advance

Sounds like thermal shutoff in inverter system because it got too hot and you need to inspect inverter cooling system to make sure its pump is running. Thermal shutoff doesn't mean anything has failed yet, just the car protecting itself by shutting down the hybrid system because its getting close to too hot, which means your small gas engine is doing all the work and its working super extra hard.

Check to confirm your AC system works and then take it back to the shop saying the cooling and possibly AC system failed and it needs to be repaired. As in the Inverter-engine radiator and the AC condenser in the very front of your car can get damaged in a collision, even a minor one.
