Hey there. Do not want to come across as a fussy "know it all." Just thought I would mention this information that Probably no one but I cares about, but Ken Kesey's brother, Chuck and Chuck's wife -Sue - started the Springfield Creamery and later hired a friend from San Francisco, Nancy. Ken didn't start it -- he was a writer. Ken's wife was Faye

When she joined the creamery, Nancy brought her fantastic probiotic yogurt recipe with her and the creamery started production of the product, which was eventually marketed as Nancy's Yogurt. IIRC, it was the first probiotic yogurt commericially sold in the USA. Nancy's Yogurt is still sold and I eat it several times a week.

Ken's biggest contribution to the creamery was his and his brother's friendship with the Grateful Dead rock band. Apparently the creamery fell on hard times and Ken and Chuck convinced the Grateful Dead - whom they was very tight with -- to come to Veneta Oregon and hold a benefit concert for Springfield Creamery. I have a DVD copy of the concert. It was a wild time. What? Surprised I have a copy of it? What do you expect from a guy who spends a fair chunk of weekends in Portland dancing in a frog outfit.

No need to apologize. Sorry about the mistakes. I was told (in high school) about the connection between the Kesey’s and the creamery, but I obviously got my history incorrect.

 

Decided there is a need for something a bit humorous.
