Don't worry, you will offend someone. Because some are looking for ANYTHING they can
    be offended with.

That's what the "IGNORE" icon is for. Then you don't have to see what the know it all's post or
the trouble makers. I will make Prius Chat a better place. And make your life a lot happier.

@jacktheripper, Completely taking down that webpage like you did also works. Thank you.

I never knew that the subject of Prius hybrid batteries were so contentious. This is like watching a political debate.

Now, let me put it to everyone this way: I have reasonably $2k to spend on a battery. Other expenses will mostly need to be toward getting a 12v auxiliary battery and paying my mechanic to install both batteries. With that said, does that change any of the advice offered? Also, please don't start another full page of arguing. I really do need advice here.

Get the Sodium Ion Hybrid and 12v batteries from Jack.
Whether you install them or someone else.

How long do you plan on keeping the car? That answer will change the recommendations.

IMO, the best battery is a new Toyota OEM, but that will be out of your price range. I would seriously look at buying a hybrid battery out of a wrecked car. The newer the car, the better, but they are not cheap.

At least a few years. My plan with the car that was just wrecked was to drive it at least another 50k miles before I got another one. It was at approximately 263k on the original hybrid battery and was still getting good mileage. I'd driven it for about 95k of that.

I read a post, I think on Reddit, that mentioned that lithium ion gets a few less MPG than a NiMH, and that the sodium ion gets a little less than that, but then I've also read posts that say that both are better than NiMH. What's your take?

There is nothing wrong with the OEM battery. "IF" you KNOW for sure you are getting
NEW blocks. I forget how to tell the difference from used, but you can search here and find out.

Don't know where you read that (goodle). From MY experience, Sodium Ion gets the best.
But all that depends on who is driving and how they are driving.

I have had all three and MY experience is the Sodium Ion is the best, and SAFEST.
Saturday in Orlando the pack was at 110°, sitting in the hot sun while we ate and then driving stop
and slow stop and traffic. There was no derogation on how it performed. It can easily handle that
High temperature, and don't forget the high humidity!Lighter, the battery and engine don't have to work as hard.

You're gonna have people that just don't want to see anybody succeed and will bash them and say how bad their product is.I think you should contact Jack and get all this information straight from him.
