Over the counter Benadry has an extremely sleepy/relaxing effect (besides the intended effect of controlling histamine) & we give one to the dogs prior to dusk. then they're good to go.

"frogs do have the good sense to get out of the hot water" This is true - if they can. Smooth vertical surface of hot pot is hard to negotiate with wet footpads.

"temperatures warm over the millennia, then cools, then does it again" This is true - with atmospheric CO2 in the 180 to 280 ppm range. It would be likely to occur again if [CO2] gets that low again. When above 400 ppm and increasing, it would be perfectly sensible to bet on increasing warmth.

Boston T on July 5 tells the story of thermometers (can select 50 years or any other day of year):

历史气温数据查询 | Historical Temperature Data Query - 专业气温趋势分析平台

It does not show increasing T, as many coastal cities do not, tempered by marine thermal stability nearby. A longer Tmax record:

    https://www.extremeweatherwatch.com/cities/boston/highest-temperatures-by-year?__cf_chl_f_tk=NUh4zLTyqcMgv5T4d4TZSCrhfPxmhgNbYY2Stwt4nis-1783220135-1.0.1.1-V6jv9nSchIr_nBXURfdO4s1hrAvwOpdq0_BX9w_ZU9o

Gives the daily record to year 1911! But while thermometers do purely physical measurements, humans are biophysical, and respond (negatively) to high humidity (RH) when hot. Because we cool ourselves by evaporating water which works poorly when it's 'sticky' outside. Brief search does not reveal long-term records of 'heat index' or 'wet-bulb temperature' (both include T and RH).

Both of those can be calculated from the excellent ERA5 global reanalysis, for any 0.25 degree lat/lon area on earth, since 1940, at (amazing) hourly resolution. I use ERA5 for forests and cities such as Abu Dhabi adjacent to hot seas. Anyone could examine Boston, Washington, etc. to know if human-perceived heat is now highest within this time period. ERA5 data are free to download; one would use 'R' statistical package or similar to process flood of data. Learn if and how much and where human-perceived heat is on the up and up.

Seeing media excitement about regional heat, I am a bit surprised that such work seems not to have been done. Recent heat waves in Europe have been examined, also tracking mortality.

Arguing about this is distracting and unnecessary. Just do the work and report findings.

"Over the counter Benadryl" My first use was when I had chicken pox and it perversely increased itching discomfort. It does help me with sleep, but imperfectly because higher dosage becomes needed over time, and not taking leads to rebound without sleep.

I have had dogs very fearful of noise like from fireworks. Happily, none of them really ran away, but they hid in strange places. I prefer not to dope them up; lacking their knowledge and consent (they are dogs). I prefer to 'be there for them' and emote calmness and stability.
