Every so often, my 2025 PHEV XSE will announce “braking ahead”. This seems to be correlated with there being slowed traffic about a half mile away, but it’s so infrequent that I can’t really pin it down. This happens even when I’m not using the in-built navigation, or my phone’s navigation. It’s also announced in the Toyota voice, not my phone’s voice — so it’s definitely coming from the car. It also doesn’t seem to have anything to do with radar, as this morning it happened when there was nothing ahead of me (and the PCS is a much more jarring announcement!)

Upon googling, I find that the closest thing to a consensus is that this is from “Predictive Efficient Drive,” so I turned that off. But… nope, got another “Braking ahead” this morning.

Has anyone figured this one out? Maybe a software glitch?
