So they chose a storage mode where roughly half of the fuel that goes in can never come out again? Possible I suppose, but really odd. I mean, "cavern collapse" could presumably be avoided by pumping water in to replace the oil that is pumped out. Just like they do when extracting oil in the first place. Neither oil nor water can be compressed substantially. While they are chemically different in terms of pressure/volume they are similar.

$4.99 and up for regular. But a man has gotta insider stock trade while he can. Up down up down, deal, no deal, maybe a deal.

I think they do replace with water, but the water deteriorates the salt

Tell me again why you pay $4.99 a gallon for regular unleaded...and I pay $3.39 a gallon. That's $1.6 more per.

What is that man fighting in your picture, after someone nicked his ear? I personally wouldn’t raise myself up as a further target, or would anyone else. Would you?

Just topped up at my chosen Top-Tier store: $5.39 for bathwater, $5.69 for midgrade (89).

A sizeable jump from last report... but what do you expect with the Straitjacket of Whore Moves still being contested by idiots in charge.

Costco where I go is always lowest here for top tier. But at this point maybe people should be concerned more about how he is using up our weapon inventory and increasing the deficit. All for his daily whims, no logical reasons. America is less safe now.

Oh, they put the oil in salt domes! Didn't know that. Using saturated saline should minimize damage to the dome but it would be hell on the pipes.

That's an image I don't need stuck in my head.

Amazing to me that so many people have not realized that Trump's "we are in charge of keeping that distant waterway open but you must pay us to transit it" isn't a well known form of piracy. I mean, it is nearly indistinguishable from what was happening before the Barbary wars (the difference being that the Barbary Coast nations bordered on the water they claimed to control.) The US at first paid but eventually under Jefferson went to war to end this form of "tribute". Marines, "To the Shores of Tripoli", and so forth, right?

Meanwhile at a Costco near me in Central Texas it was $3.19 a gallon with an additional 16 cents a gallon rebating from their credit card. Net $3.03 a gallon.

I guess being in a favored Red State has at least one advantage.
